Tegenungan Waterfall

TEGENUNGAN WATER FALL

Tegenungan Waterfall (also known as Air Terjun Tegenungan or Blangsinga Waterfall) is a popular and accessible natural attraction in Kemenuh Village, Gianyar Regency, on the Petanu River near Ubud in central Bali. It’s surrounded by lush tropical jungle and is one of the island’s most photogenic waterfalls, especially convenient for visitors based in or traveling through the Ubud area.

TICKET:

Entrance Ticket: Rp. 30,000 (subject to change)

Distance from Bali International Airport (Ngurah Rai/DPS): Approximately 30–37 km (sources commonly cite around 32–36.9 km).

  • Driving time by car: Typically 1 to 2 hours, depending on traffic (most estimates are 1–1.5 hours under normal conditions; it can take longer during peak hours or rain). From central Ubud, it’s much shorter — just 10–11 km / 15–30 minutes.

  • What guests will see: You’ll arrive at a scenic tropical setting with dense jungle greenery, bamboo, and lush vegetation. The main highlight is the powerful ~15–25 m (50–80 ft) waterfall cascading dramatically into a natural pool at the base.

    • From the top viewpoint (near the entrance), you get a stunning panoramic overlook.
    • You can descend about 150–170 steps (a moderate but steep path) to reach the base for a closer view, where mist sprays everywhere.
    • Swimming/wading is allowed in the refreshing pool (very popular on hot days), though currents can be strong after heavy rain — use caution.
    • Extra features include changing rooms, showers, and lockers. Some visitors cross a bamboo or glass bridge for elevated views (this may have a separate small fee). Nearby are souvenir shops, small cafés, and even a day club for drinks with a view. It’s very photogenic, especially in the morning or late afternoon golden light, but can get crowded midday.
